Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with people of all backgrounds and family histories. I’ve learned that everyone has a story that’s important. Though, as orthodontists, we are trained to seek perfection in bites and alignment, it is most important to ensure that our goals align with those of our patients and everyone is pleased with and proud of the result.
I love to see the transformation that patients go through — physically and emotionally — as their teeth transform. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle that comes together piece by piece to a complete beautiful picture. The best feeling is watching patients smile and stare at themselves in the mirror after they get their braces off. Our patients are what make our days fun, and I cherish the relationships we’ve built throughout the years. I am honored to be a part of their story and to give them a smile they will forever cherish.
Education and Continuing Education
- Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences – University of Chicago
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Illinois in Chicago
- Master of Science and specialty license – Marquette University
By participating in study groups and forums, and by regularly attending continuing education lectures and courses nationwide through the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, I feel I can keep current on advances in my profession that may benefit my patients’ treatment and overall orthodontic experience.
Family and Community
My husband and practice partner, Dr. Matt Israel, and I have two children, Ellie and Marco. We also have two adorable dogs, Jack and Paulie. Outside of work, I love to cook (and eat), practice yoga, and travel, especially to visit my relatives in Greece! I also love to trapeze! I would trapeze every day if I could!
For six years, we have been supporters of the Glenview Education Foundation and the Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook. We participate in the Tall Trees Turkey Trot every year (rain or shine) as a family and as a practice! And personally, we are supporters of On Your Feet Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting birth mothers as they rebuild their lives after placing a child for adoption.
